Have you ever found yourself at a point where you have a very lack luster approach towards your work? I sure have. I’ve asked myself on several occasions, “is this something you even want to do?” At times, the answer is no! When I have no passion for the work in front of me, my interest, enthusiasm, and concern for my work product lacks. The fact that I feel that way is okay. What is not okay however, is throwing together just anything for the sake of saying I got the job done. Are you doing that? If so, stop it – now.
We live in a fast forward society. We are constantly requiring something of others or being requested to do something. I can only imagine it’s because society has afforded us the luxury of being able to communicate at all times. This allows for so many false time constructs that convince us that we should be able to do a thing just as quickly as its requested and as easily as we are able to Google it. And, that’s simply not true. Some tasks require a bit more effort – even when we don’t feel up to it.
Take your time. Do the job right.
The time and effort that we put into our work is responsible for masterpieces (or disasters) that we contribute to the world. That is why attention to detail matters. A person’s attention to detail illustrates the subtle yet powerful difference between just getting the job done and a job well done.
Enthusiasm for your work matters, but more importantly consistency matters – especially in a world where everyone is doing the same thing in a different way. Don’t let your fears, hesitation, or procrastination keep you from always putting your best foot forward. any job at all.
Good work will be supported and a hard worker will always be remembered and rewarded. Take your time. Research what you push and preach. Market with purpose, passion, and then repeat. Practice gets you close to perfect and consistency guarantees progression. Be proud of your work. It may not look exactly as you envision initially, but keep going – it will. You can rest assured your name will always be associated with a job well done.
XOXO
