Begin where you are
The first yoga tip is to use social media, an internet search, or ask a friend for recommendations on a good studio. According to Yoga International, it’s a good idea to contact the studio where you will practice to ask for a recommendation for a class that’s appropriate for you. Ideally, start in a class specifically designed for beginners—where you’ll learn foundation poses, alignment, and breathing fundamentals. YouTube is a great alternative for in person sessions.
Wake up early
Ideally, yoga is practiced in the early morning at sunrise when the mind is clearest and the world is quiet. Practicing first thing in the morning allows you to avoid distraction and start the day off with health and intentionality, thus setting the tone for the rest of the day.
Set an intention
Our next yoga tip is all about what you want it to be about! You may decide to focus on breathing deeply throughout the class, or to practice not judging yourself or others. Offering gratitude for the opportunity to use yoga to care for your body is another way to ground your practice. Whatever your focus, call it to mind any time you need some inspiration. Or simply use a reminder of your reason for coming to yoga class
Listen to your body
just remember that yoga shouldn’t hurt. If you experience any sharp pain, immediately pull back You may notice new sensations, challenges, or openings in your body. Those are perfectly normal and beneficial. If you’re ever in doubt whether what you’re feeling is safe be safe and come out of the pose. Additionally, use your breath as an indicator. If your breath becomes ragged, unsteady, or you find yourself holding your breath, it can be a sign that you’ve exceeded your limits. Take a break and a few deep breaths before returning to your practice.
Turn lifestyle to a habit
I love when my yoga instructor says, “thank you for carving time out for yourself today.” It’s a gentle reminder that I matter and this time I’ve given to myself is necessary and should be repeated. Start thanking yourself and watch how eager you are for your next session. That’s all the yoga tips I have for you now!
